Communications intern
Victorian Government Solicitor’s Office

The Victorian Government Solicitor’s Office is the “primary source of legal services for the Victorian State Government and its statutory authorities.” – Victorian Government Solicitor’s Office 2015

My role at the VGSO was completing 160 hours as a communications intern in the Business Development and Marketing team.

While at the VGSO, I did a range of activities including filming and editing the first internal fortnightly update video presented by the Victorian Government Solicitor Marlo Baragwanath, which was then shared with employees within the VGSO. I also brainstormed concepts for a ‘pick up unattended phones’ campaign and communication tactics for the internal International Women’s Day Breakfast event. The internship gave me real-life experience and a sound understanding of communications within Government statutory authorities.

Public relations and marketing intern
GO International Group Dotcom

GO International Group is a small local public relations and marketing firm about 40 minutes outside of Kuala Lumpur. They have a passion for producing innovative branded content and some clientele include Sephora Malaysia, Electronic Sports World Cup Malaysia, and Models Own (UK).

As part of the study tour, students were required to complete a one week internship in groups of two or three with a journalism or communications host company while staying in Kuala Lumpur.

While at GO International Group I was involved in tasks such as writing a media release on the participation of Malaysian Amirul Afundi in the E-Sports World Championship, creating social media content for Facebook page Asia Fitness Today and brainstorming ideas and presenting promotion ideas for Melbourne beauty boutique MOR for their pop-up store in Avenue K mall. We also spent a few days at the pop-up store trying to attract customers and boost sales. This experience, while short, helped me improve my communication skill with those of other cultures and allowed me to participate and gain a deeper understanding of real-life communications tasks.
